Description
Artmagazin's articles are published in the field of contemporary and classical art, focusing on Hungarian and international events, research, trends and trends. Our interest extends to border areas: fashion and design are as much a topic here as the connection points between theater, architecture and music. On our cover is the mystical scene of Maurice Denis. In the picture, the renewal of nature blends with the spiritual cleansing associated with Easter, and all this is even given some element by the fact that here, if we look closely, there are only women; members of some strange female sect are just baptizing each other — a man apparently only touched them with his brush. Although the image belongs to our article, which also deals with the connections between artistic abstraction and Wagnerism, it is good to see that a French version of Parsifal was born in the French, at least in painting. Admiration for the French and eternal longing also accompanied the life of an artist who then inherited Berlin in the twenties, whose names can be mentioned alongside George Grosz and Otto Dix, and it is worth noting: Jeanne Mammen, whose career was closely linked to newspapers , that is, the heyday of the printed press. We still stay with the French cultural circle when we showcase Yves Saint Laurent’s museum in Marrakech, or when we write about the works of a Canadian artist, Sheila Hicks, currently on display at the Pompidou in Paris. But there is a psychedelic installation by the Japanese, Yayoi Kusama, reflecting a fantastic, polka dot pumpkin, which is just attracting crowds in America, as well as the Austrian, Alma and Anna Mahler, mother and daughter. They are featured in an article that merely sheds light on the changes in the role of women in the modern age by telling their story. Here, for example, the truncated dollhouse symbol also takes on a new meaning, thanks to Kokoschka, who did not shy away from the radical expression of her real emotions, and who carried a life-size doll made of Alma Mahler with her everywhere. With which he tried to achieve the same revolution in three dimensions that animation tries in two. In the case of Éva Magyarósi, with whom we talk in this issue, the re-enactment of things is done with a much more sophisticated surreality, although sometimes some completely relaxed morbidity is not far from her - just watch her animated films in Szentendre. Our opening article, which analyzes the reception of the recently closed National Gallery exhibition presenting the art of the sixties, or our closing articles on the Belgrade Museum of Contemporary Art and a book on the history of the Hungarian museum system , how, thanks to what decisions and what works will be put in the museum, what we will pass on, and with what comments to posterity. Our article on poster art includes a film title that is actually relevant to this heritage task today: Your Majesty Prince Comrade. I would like to list a few more film titles about which one we want, which best describes our situation: Twelve Angry People, Seven Snipers, Piedone in Hong Kong. Or there's a Roman vacation.
