I continued to live as if I had not been hit. If I was denied an opportunity, I started again, in a different form. I only lost my bread and my job at least ten times - he wrote this in 1959. He accepted his serious illnesses and aging without complaint. He underwent eye surgery at the age of eighty-seven. In preparation for this, he walked out the door with this sentence: "Will I ever see God's beautiful world again?"
